Sometimes at first glance the hip hop scene can appear to be a "man's world." The videos are catered to them and most of the subject matter involves themes and topics common to men.
In the world of Dat Other Hip Hop that is not the case at all. There are sistas with mad skills who wreck the mic with authority. Unlike some of their hip hop counterparts these sistas do it without the need to be overtly sexxy or even profane.
Sistas like Octavia Harris, Mahagony Jones, Shekina, Tragedy, Shei Atkins. Lil LaLa and the list goes on. These young ladies are not the typical females you find on the Hip Hop scene and we dare you to call them the "weaker sex" (you just might catch a verbal thrashing LOL)
We have much respect for the Ladies of Dat Other Hip Hop...they continually make the choice to go against the grain and present powerful and positive images for our younger sistas! You wont find these sistas slidin up and down poles or shakin it for ya...nah they carry themselves in a way that demands your respect! Lyrically they can go toe to toe with the any brotha in the industry.
Starting next week will begin a weekly spot where we will showcase the best and the brightest sistas in the game. So be sure to stay tuned.
